New Traditions

So a few days have passed since I have blogged.  Christmas has passed, I hope the time for remembering our Savior has not passed.  We should all remember that Jesus Christ is not just the "Reason for the Season", but He IS the reason for our entire life. If you have not made HIM your personal friend, savior, conforter and guide, don't wait, do so today.  Admit you have sinned,   that he died for you so your sins will be forgiven, then ask Him to forgive your sins.  Start the new year off right.  Make a new tradition and  Love on Him.
This Christmas, I made handmade cards for my friends and family.  I also made a different set for my church friends.  As a new tradition, I had all our family make handmade ornaments.  Some were quite funny.  My hubby glued a group of acorns together, we had a paint brush on a cord, a angel that looked like a ghost, a handprint, and others that were very good.  One of my daughters and my mom forgot to make theirs, so I turned over my craft room to them so they could complete the task.

My definition (not Websters)
TRADITION:  Something that you wish to start and continue.

Enjoy and be So Scrappy!

Procrastination or Organization to Reminisce

I like to call it organization, while others may look at it as procrastination.  I recently took my scrapbook pages and began to compile them into catagories and place them in large binders under headers.   While this might seem like a simple task, it turned into an afternoon of memories.  I found pages, I had scrapbooked with pictures I forgot about.  My grandbabies have sure grown, and so has my skill level in scrapbooking.  Thank goodness!

My definition (not Websters)
ORGANIZATION:  Finding a place for everything without stopping to reminisce!

Enjoy and be So Scrappy,

Don't Forget the Camera!

Getting ready to celebrate my father-in-laws Surprise 80th birthday party, we are gathering pictures. Now, now I am the family photographer. Everyone laughs at me because no matter the occasion, I have the camera. However, that apparently was not the case back in the day. Trying to find those unique pics, of everyday events are few and hard to come by. Even though I have boxes of them. Now I have those posed pic, that everyone has, but as I said, we all have them. Boxes and Boxes of them! In this blog, my lesson I have learned and I hope that we all do, is: use the camera, cell phone, whatever your choice is and get in the picture. Get those candid shots. Get the everyday moments. Don't wait until your parents are in their 70's & 80's to finally decide to take pics of them with you. Do it early and frequently and with all members of your family. Individual pics the fun moments.

My definition (not Websters)
PICTURES - Memories that will be able to be shared 40 years from now.

Scrap vs Trash

Do you throw it away or save it? Those little peices of left-over sheets of cardstock or patterened paper. How do you know what to do with it? I struggle with the fact that if I were to keep every peice of scrap, I would need a whole seperate room just to store the scraps. On the other hand, if I throw it away, am I contributing to waste. With recycle so high on peoples minds, what is a scrapper to do? I heard one lady say if it fits in a toilet paper tube, then she throws it away? Now, do I really have time to measure? I would much rather crop. So, my decision is this... if the page left over is at least the size of a photograph (4x6) then its a keeper! If I have to think about it...then its trash.

Definition (not Websters):
TRASH:    Something you really don't need.

Cyber World-Everybody's doing it!

When I set out to start a Blog, I had no clue what I was doing.  For a week, I would open this site and look in total confusion.  Well, I have done it, (I hope), and I'm still confused!  My postings won't be long and wordy, they will just be me.  Simple, honest, plain, ME!

My goal, when starting this blog is to tell, as simply as I can, a bit of scrappy tidbits.  Thus, the title, "So Scrappy Sheila"  Scrapping does not come easy to me.  I'm not real creative.  Quite frankly, I scraplift most everything I do.  Pages, Cards, Home Decor, Crafts.

So, my first definition (not Websters):
SCRAPLIFT:  Finding a item you love and making it your own.

Enjoy and be So Scrappy,

Sheila
